Transcribed and arranged for two guitars by Mark Viggiani

There does seem to be something almost kinky about reducing Wagner’s iconoclastic and massively voluptuous orchestral textures down to two guitars, but when you strip away the instrumental doublings and padding a surprising clean four-part polyphony emerges. This arrangement emphasizes the renaissance roots of Wagner’s churning chromaticism, and gives guitarists a chance to experience this fine Romantic work in a style a long way outside the usual repertoire.
